 WIN’s Peddle Car Minimize

Check out this story of collaboration and cooperation as various WIN members and students work together to restore WIN’s toy peddle car which will be unveiled at the WIN NACE booth in November
  • March 2008…Women’s Industry Conference is held in Dallas, Texas and is attended by Vocational students, Mychelle Hix, Herndon Career Center and Jennifer Engelbrecht, Butler County Community College.
  • November 2008…Women’s Industry Network booth at the International Autobody Congress & Exposition NACE promotes women in the collision repair industry. Several vocational students attend the Congress as a guest of WIN.
  • February 2009…Kristen Felder, Nationwide Insurance and a WIN member, offers to donate a peddle car to the WIN organization.
  • March 2009…The membership committee headed by Victoria Jankowski, State Farm Insurance, discusses ideas to promote WIN by using the pedal car.
  • April 2009…Kristen Felder attends the Automotive Service Association “Vision 2009” meeting and delivers the pedal car to Linda Sommerhauser, Autobody Color Company and a WIN member. Linda has agreed to contact a vocational school who will restore and paint the pedal car.
  • May 2009…WIN membership committee decides to use the pedal car as a centerpiece at the NACE 2009 WIN booth. Dave Baltz, Instructor at Herndon Career Center agrees to assist with the restoration. He received the Teacher of the Year Award from the Missouri Trade and Technical Association. The morning and afternoon class at Herndon will restore, paint and design graphics for the car in the fall semester. A collage will be created to showcase the process and give students credit for their work.
  • September 2009…The pedal car is delivered to Herndon career Center. Mychelle Hix creates three designs for the pedal car graphics. WIN selects a blue overall color with yellow WIN logos.
  • Before restoration begins David Rulman, director of Herndon Career Center talks to the class regarding the project. He emphasizes the importance of the project. He also explains to the students what an honor they have received and how their project will be on display for people from all over the world who attend NACE. He states, “All eyes will be on their project.”
  • September 15, 2009 THE RESTORATION BEGINS…
  • Complete WIN Pedal Car Unveiled at NACE 2009. Thanks to Instructor Dave Baltz and all his students at Herndon Career Center for their excellent work and collaboration on this project.

NACE 2010 in Las Vegas October 11-13

WIN is in full swing with our planning for NACE. We are excited to report we will have a booth at the EXPO as well as a fun social planned for Tuesday evening. We will keep you posted on our website and through WIN Notes as our plans develop. If you are attending NACE for the first time, we invite you to support WIN through the ASRW Partnering Program. WIN can earn credit for your NACE and/or CARS registration – but ONLY if you enter our customer “registration code” of 20 on your registration form. By doing so, WIN can earn $25 for each first-time attendee that registers with code 20. The dollars are provided to WIN so we can continue to our work of supporting women in the industry. It’s an easy way to provide meaningful support to WIN. As always, we are so grateful for your support!
